The Shared Vision
Morris, MN
The University of Minnesota, Morris and Engan Associates began the process of creating a shared vision with the predesign the Engan team created with the university staff in 2015. This vision included creating increased visibility & demand for the Humanities building, modernized classrooms, and multi-use spaces for collaboration and socializing.
Innovative Design
Once state funding was approved, design and construction began in 2018. Project priorities included creation of state-of-the-art teaching environments; integration of technology into teaching; creation of multi-use spaces, breakout areas, collaboration zones; and places for lingering.
Modern classrooms were designed with tables and seating that compliments technology and varying teaching styles. Rooms can serve more than one purpose; they are now “multi-purpose tools.” These rooms can be set up to accommodate an instructor who wants to lecture, work with visual media, individual devices or with small group collaboration.
This project was completed in collaboration with DLR Group.
