Browns Valley Carnegie Library restoration

The historic Browns Valley Carnegie Library, built in 1915–16 is currently undergoing careful exterior restoration in Browns Valley, MN. This Neoclassical, National Register-listed building (added 1985) served as the town’s library until 1997 and now functions as a museum and archival storage site managed by the Browns Valley Historical Society. Summer 2025 will see a focused renovation project targeting masonry repairs, tuckpointing, and preservation of the stone foundation and classical detailing, funded through the Minnesota Historical Society and community contributions. Once complete, the refurbishment will stabilize the exterior, enhance the building’s durability, and restore its dignified presence at Broadway & 2nd Street ensuring that the Carnegie landmark continues to be a centerpiece in Browns Valley and supports its historical legacy.
